Overview
A lot of new iPhone users don't know how to put a call on hold.  With certain models you can't put it on hold but rather put it in mute.   This suspends the call without hanging up, but it stops you from being able to hear the other caller. They can’t hear you as well.

 

Step 1
While in a call, tap the 'Mute' button and hold it.

Tap the “Hold” Button to return to your Call.
